7-8 men filed civil
suits in 2001 and 2003-04 alleging abuse by Hoehl in early 1980s. Hoehl was
placed on leave in 1986 after previous undisclosed claims became known. Sent for
therapy & reassigned. Left active priesthood in 1988. Laicized 6/04. 2002
article says he was children's therapist in West Virginia. Board of Counselors
investigated allegations and found them credible. He agreed to surrender his
license as of 3/07. Claims included in 9/07 settlement with 34 plaintiffs.
